Saltash Town Regatta
The central feature of the Regatta will be the Mixed and Veterans Pilot Gig Championship, hosted by Saltash's own Caradon Pilot Gig Club. Because of the success of last years' event when 135 crews entered, this will now take place on both Saturday and Sunday, together with a juniors event. This will be the most accessible gig event in the region, with splendid views of the racing upriver.
The Regatta will again feature the Five Towns Challenge on Saturday (for councillors from Saltash, Callington, Liskeard, Torpoint and Looe) the HJ Davy Cup and the Waitrose Shield. (Saturday 1.00pm),
On Sunday, there will be the 5th hilarious England and Back cutter race (12 noon), featuring up to 18 crews of strictly amateur rowers in fancy dress, competing for the honour of being first to place a Cornish Flag on the Plymouth shore ! There will also be a strong sailing presence, with dinghy racing organised by Saltash Sailing Club.
There will be demonstrations from Canoe Association (Sunday 12.15pm) and the 101st running of the Prince of Wales Cup between recruits from HMS Raleigh (Saturday 1.00pm).
