Looe Lugger Regatta

Printer friendly page

Witness a fantastic weekend where Looe will be filled with classic fishing boats, the engines will once again be switched off. Turn back time as boats from over 100 years old provide a colourful spectacle, both out at sea and once tied up in the harbour.

The Lugger was the main fishing boats operating off the south Cornish coast right up until the 1960s. Originally sailing vessels, some were later installed with engines.

Arriving in the days leading up to the event the craft will race in the bay, weather permitting, on both the Saturday and Sunday. Those wishing to watch the races will find great vantage points at Hannafore, West Looe or from the end of the Banjo Pier.
