Motorboat cruising offers a luxurious way to enjoy what the Cornish coast motorboats_2has to offer. Shallow draft cruisers can make the most of estuaries and creeks boasting clear swimming waters and great facilities.

With the advantage of a boat with good speed, the south coast ports are rarely much more than a short hop away with safe havens, anchorages and luxurious marinas dotted around meaning the options are pretty-much endless.

Whether you are boating in search of dinner, a picnic on the beach or you are out to find a waterside pub, you won't be disappointed in Cornwall. If you choose to base your cruising holiday around one port, there will be plenty to keep you and the family occupied.

As well as quality cruising, there is great shoreside entertainment for all the family with the amazing small boat collection on show at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall within easy reach of the Falmouth marinas where you can relax and enjoy the luxury of endless running water, electricity and bar facilities.

Consult your copy of Cornwall’s Marine Guide and Directory for plenty of places to get fuelled up for cruising the Cornish Coast and hospitality that ensures you are welcomed when you arrive whether you choose a marina berth, mooring or the privacy of your own anchorage.

If your boat comes to need maintenance there is an array of experienced and high quality marine engineers on the books of Cornwall Marine Network who will be glad to help you get back to what’s important – enjoying your boating.

For beginners the run from Falmouth to Fowey is a great first cruising trip – swapping the bustle of a medium sized port for the compact charm of Fowey’s natural harbour entered through a tiny slot in the cliff. Most ocean-going motorboats would manage the short trip in less than an hour. For the more experienced boater, the hop to the Isles of Scilly can be very rewarding.

The coastline of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly includes many gems including the Fal Estuary and Helford River – recognised for their outstanding natural beauty. If Europe rated cruising grounds it would doubtless note that this area provides some of the safest and most rewarding watersports with few obstructions offering masses of fun and peace of mind for family boating.

With some of the warmest and clearest waters in Britain, these shores are also home to a wide range of marine and shore-based wildlife. Cornwall’s diverse scenery is home to the world’s second biggest fish, the basking shark, as well as forests of pink coral and submerged walls of brightly coloured jewel anemones. The peninsula also gets visited by the occasional leatherback turtle, minke whales, pilot whales and orcas who call in while searching for food.

Cornwall is also a year-round home for dolphins and porpoises with sightings running into several thousand a year. Regulars include the bottlenose dolphin, the white-beaked, common, striped, Atlantic white-sided and Risso’s dolphin – so don’t come cruising without your binoculars.
