Looe has been popular with tourists for many years. It is still a major fishing port and is one of the most picturesque fishing villages in Cornwall.
Its greatest attraction is the lovely sandy beach which borders the harbour shops and cafes.
There are many boats that offer fishing trips for the whole family. Why not visit Looe Island, now owned by Cornwall Wildlife Trust and managed as a nature reserve. There are boats from Looe Harbour to the island most days during the tourist season.
As well as moorings and quayside berths for some 85 private boats and dinghies; the fishing fleet at Looe consists of 47 vessels of various sizes [mainly under 10 metres in length] from Trawlers to hand line mackerel boats. The fleet employs approximately 120 fishermen with another 40 workers employed in the ancillary related industries.
