Cornwall Super Yacht Tour...
SUPERYACHT SPOTLIGHT FOCUSES ON CORNWALL
The world of the super yacht comes to Cornwall next month (March) with a major two-day showcase event for a 25-strong international delegation based at Falmouth.
Project managers, designers, naval architects, owners’ representatives, brokers, captains and shipyard managers from all over the world will be helicoptered into the port on Thursday, March 8, as part of the UK “Super Yacht Tour of Excellence.”
Key players will be Cornwall’s own super yacht big hitters – Pendennis Shipyard of Falmouth and Multimarine Composites Ltd, of Millbrook.
A Multimarine high-speed powerboat will visit the port and two Cornish yachts will be transported to Pendennis Castle for display while delegates enjoy a networking reception and dinner event there on the Thursday evening. They will meet representatives of up to 20 Cornish supplier companies.
A Rustler 24 and the six-metre international racing yacht Titia, supplied by International Metre Yacht Management of Penpol, will be on show as part of a mini-exhibition at the castle.
Over the two days, the delegates’ programme will include a visit to the powerboat and tours of Pendennis Shipyard and Cockwells, the Falmouth-based classic boat building yard. There will also be meetings with other Cornish marine businesses and representatives of Cornwall Marine Network (CMN).
The event in Falmouth is being organized as a joint collaboration between the British Marine Federation, Pendennis Shipyard and CMN.
“This gathering in Falmouth is proof positive that something unique and very special is evolving within the Cornish marine sector, said CMN marketing manager Tim Bowerbank.
“Attracting this kind of customer to Cornwall demonstrates that talented companies such as Pendennis and Multimarine can compete on quality and price with the best yards in the world.”
He added: “The Tour of Excellence is a great opportunity for companies to showcase their products and services to an invited group of international delegates from the elite superyacht sector.”
Another Cornish business involved in the Falmouth-based event is Microcomms Marine, of Redruth, which recently launched a new boat alarm and monitoring system using cutting-edge global mobile communications technology.
